Just before our buddies Brian and Verena finished their first contract in Korea, they took a bus down to Kwangju for a weekend for a final visit. Together we drove off into the remote countryside of South Cheolla province to the tranquil Nagan Folk Village.

Our guests with some funky guardians by the gate.
Nice detail on this one.
Carvings like this one are pretty unusual in Korea.
Here's Brian getting friendly with some of the woodwork.
We like it here.
From the village wall, here's an overview of the thatched roofs.
Cheris and her camera took a moment's rest on the wall before we had to hit the road.

We said our sad farewells to Brian and Verena soon after... and then they returned to Korea just a couple of months after they left! Alas, as of this writing, they've left again and we miss them terribly already... but we'll be seeing them again someday, be it on Korean, Irish, or American soil...
